STADUS, Pamela

Glass Artist
Melbourne, Victoria

Pamela Stadus has a Masters in Craft (Glass) from Monash University, Graduate Diploma in Visual Communication and a Higher Diploma in Secondary Art Teaching from Melbourne University. Currently Stadus is studying for her PhD at Monash University.

Stadus works from her studio in Melbourne, in sand casting and kiln casting.

“The inspiration for my glasswork comes from an interest in the concepts of time, time and space and history, with the latter being particularly important in helping us to explain our position in the world of today. Towers, houses, walls, ruins and structural evidence of past civilizations, combined with words, patterns, clouds, reflections and gold, are images that I commonly employ. These are printed and /or drawn and are placed between layers of transparent glass and which become trapped thus creating a feeling of being suspended in time and in a place. The technique that I use is hot cast glass which is poured into sand molds resulting in a contrast between the rough course exterior (sand side) and the polished transparent front (pouring surface).”

Stadus has held regular solo exhibitions and has been represented in many group exhibitions both nationally and internationally.
