Philip Stokes completed a Bachelor of Education (Drama & Dance) in 1991 from Victoria College, followed by a Bachelor of Applied Arts (Glass) Hons in 2000 from Monash University and was awarded the Pilchuck Partnership Scholarship.

“With a background in theatre, I find that handling hot glass is surprisingly similar to the stage; spontaneity, improvisation and chance are all elements that I enjoy and exploit, both in making and in the final installation.”

Stokes’ work is held in private collections both national and international and he has been represented in numerous exhibitions in Australia and overseas.
